Eleven Tax Changes to Know before Filing
Now that tax season is here, I wanted to let people know that the recent changes to the tax code could affect their wallet! A Forbes article provided the eleven important changes that taxpayers need to be aware of before they prepare their 2012 returns.
Tuesday Tax Tunes by the TaxMan

Tax Fraud – From Twitter – @TheIslandNow1 reports that 50 year old Great Neck, NJ tax lawyer and accountant William McCoy, has been charged with grand larceny and criminal tax fraud for stealing more than $135 thousand in payroll tax withholdings from his company, McCoy Consulting from 2005 through 2011. The District Attorney maintains McCoy used the payroll tax funds for himself and given his expertise must have known he was breaking the law. McCoy is facing 15 years in prison + restitution.
Tax Identity Fraud – Tax identity fraud has grown into a massive, often dangerous, illegal industry the IRS has been unable to resolve. This week’s post highlighted how Florida’s leads the nations in tax identity fraud crime. It also offered tips on how taxpayers can protect themselves from this pernicious national crime.
Frivolous Tax Claims – Terry Branco, 56 of Vermillion, Ohio was sentenced to five months in prison for filing false and frivolous tax returns for the years 2004 through 2007. Branco was also ordered to pay $47,475 in restitution of the unpaid taxes for those three years.
