Tax Warrant Issued for CBS News Anchor Katie Couric
Some say it must have been a slow day at the New York Daily News on Friday when they reported that newswoman Katie Couric was in trouble with the taxman. It was reported that the New York state Department of Taxation and Finance issued a warrant against Couric for an outstanding bill of $210.41 from 2003.
According to her spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, the warrant and earlier bills were sent to the journalist’s old address. He added that while Couric is on vacation and will settle the matter promptly upon her return.
The former Today Show host was a superstar on morning TV, but has been struggling with disappointing ratings at her new CBS News post. The Washington Post recently reported that Couric may give up the anchor chair after the November election—if her ratings don’t improve.
But for now, Couric makes a reported $15 million a year as the anchor for the CBS Evening News, so I’m pretty confident her tax debt shouldn’t be a problem.
