Tax Tweets from IRS Offer Timely Tax Help and Filing Tips for Taxpayers and Tax Professionals

The IRS is fully integrating itself in social media. In keeping up with the times, our nation’s tax collection agency now offers timely tax tips, information on IRS programs like e-file, tax law changes and other quick snippets of information for taxpayers on its IRS Twitter @IRSnews. The IRS states the focus of its Twitter channel is to offer easy to use information and share timely content with taxpayers and the tax professional community.

The IRS also maintains the @IRStaxpros Twitter profile, which is designed for the tax professional community and offers for real-time content for tax preparers. Read more here at Katu.com.

At TRS, social media has been a great way for us to reach out and educate the public- especially as Twitter is gaining in popularity. The IRS already uses YouTube and it’s own channel offers tax tips and tax information in English, Spanish and American Sign Language.  We’ve mentioned the IRS’s use of social media before, most notable to recruit hundreds of agents via YouTube to crack down on back taxes.

If you are a taxpayer who is struggling with back taxes, unfiled tax returns or other IRS problems, you may be overwhelmed and not sure where to turn to for advice. There are a lot of avenues for help out there, but not all of them would be relevant to your specific problem.
