Tax Resolution Services, Co. Wins American Business Awards

In addition to solving IRS tax problems, Tax Resolution Services, Co. was honored last month with two American Business awards (aka the Stevie awards) for our work in the tax resolution industry. I was honored with a bronze Stevie Award for Maverick of the Year and my colleague and Tax Resolution Services’ President, Brian Compton received a silver Stevie as Executive of the Year in Accounting, Banking and Financial Services. We are both thrilled that our efforts have been recognized, especially during the turbulent time the tax resolution industry is facing at the moment. With all the heat directed at tax firms and tax resolution firms over the past year, it’s an honor to have the nation’s leading business awards program, the American Business Awards recognize both Tax Resolution Services leaders. Having been nominated for a Stevie Award twice before in 2009 and 2011 for Executive awards, I am thrilled to be recognized in this category as an industry pioneer under their new “Maverick” category.

My motto has always been, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” As CEO of a tax debt mediation and negotiation firm, I believe in an honest and strong consumer-friendly business model. Putting myself in the consumer’s shoes and treating them in the manner I want to be treated are principles I abide by. If I cannot help a consumer, I strive to give them the tools they need to help themselves or seek the specific help they require. Educating and empowering consumers has always been at the core of my principles for over fourteen years and I am very pleased to receive an award that recognizes individuals who encourage positive change in the industry.

Congratulations to Brian for winning the prestigious and coveted Executive of the Year in Accounting, Banking and Financial Services award. These days too many business executives are in the headlines for the wrong reasons and too many companies are trying to take advantage of consumers. It is a delight to highlight Brian’s achievement as an example of how to do things the right way. His expertise, leadership and drive in setting up a high bar at Tax Resolution Services, working on the front lines or behind the scenes has helped him land this award.

I feel it is very unusual to have leaders from the same company win a Stevie, however this only shows that our mission to provide effective tax help and tax help services to consumers is essential. The present time is critical for paving the way forward in IRS debt help and shedding light to the tax problem resolution industry. This is what prompted me to co-found the National Association of Tax Resolution Companies with the purpose of drafting federal and state legislation that will serve to self-regulate the tax resolution industry (and remove the riff-raff that is damaging the reputation of legitimate businesses in the industry).
