Recently the IRS announced its new efforts to help struggling consumers by making changes to the lien process that are meant to give people “a break.”
But what does that really mean? Are consumers really going to have an easier time financially now that the IRS adjusted their lien process? You may be asking yourself: wait, aren’t the IRS supposed to be going after my money and not helping me? Is

Recently, I appeared on the Big Biz Show with Russ and Sully to continue my Tax Day Countdown with what I call the “IRS Dirty Dozen”–which is a list of tax frauds that the IRS is looking to catch and penalize for.
You may have heard of some of these in the past or on the news; taxpayers and tax preparers are getting themselves in some serious trouble by trying to

Popular national radio host Rush Limbaugh is known for his quick wit and strong beliefs. So it was an honor for us to be recently endorsed by Rush on his national radio program. We know that in these tough economic times, the government is quick to pursue audits and is staffing the IRS with gusto.
Rush said it best:
“How many ways does this administration allow the IRS into your life? I

This week, the Internal Revenue Services announced a new program for limited amnesty to help crackdown on Offshore Tax Evasion cases. The Wall Street Journal covered this in an educational article called: IRS Sets Offshore Amnesty, Part II.
Author Laura Saunders quotes the IRS in regards to the first limited amnesty program that ran in 2009 from March to October, “More than 15,000 taxpayers stepped forward to confess to holding offshore accounts.” The penalties are tougher than

Wake up consumers, it’s now February! That means you’ve got less than 70 days till THE tax day–you ready? While this year the tax deadline is April 18th instead of the usual 15th (Emancipation holiday in Washington D.C), that doesn’t mean you really have “more time” to get your ducks in a row.
This is why I am happy to return to the Big Biz Show this year with the Tax

The Jan. 31 deadline for filing Form 1099s for independent contractors is around the corner. A major target on the IRS hit list is worker status.
Why would the IRS care how a business owner classifies workers? Because the tax burden on the owner changes dramatically depending on how a worker is classified. The IRS is on the lookout for worker misclassification—it doesn’t matter if it is deliberate or inadvertent—to capture

For taxpayers who are scrupulous about filing every year and paying every dime of their tax bill on time year after year, it can be galling to hear about delinquent taxpayers who manage to settle their tax debt for far less than what they owe.
Our team at TRS understands the common frustration of compliant taxpayers. People ask, Why is it a good thing when someone can settle with the IRS
