At Tax Resolution Services, we all agree that tax evasion is never a good idea. People who pull tax scams, such as filing false tax returns, may feel like they are lining their pockets with money at the moment, but the money does no good once they are in prison. At Tax Resolution Services we always say that you only can evade taxes for so long before getting caught. No tax cheater ever seems to think that the longer they get away with tax evasion, the steeper their penalty will be when they get caught! Case in point:
Florida real estate agent Thomas Daugherty, 54, of Fort Myers, was sentenced to 24 months in federal prison for tax evasion. The court

In some cases of tax evasion where a couple is involved, one person in the couple may qualify for Innocent Spouse tax relief. That’s when one person of the couple has no idea that the spouse (or ex-spouse) is scamming the IRS. The IRS does gives people breaks – here and there. One IRS break that some people are not aware of is tax relief for spouses who are being subjected to IRS problems because of their spouse’s (or ex-spouse’s) actions. It is appropriately called “Innocent Spouse” tax relief and, if a person qualifies and meets IRS guidelines, they will not be responsible for the tax problems of their spouse. Of course, this does not apply to
