I recently came across an interesting article on CNN with some surprising stats. In Tax cheats: Single, young and male, an annual survey conducted by DDB Worldwide Communications Group found that the typical American tax cheat is male, single and under the age of 45. According to the survey:

15% of Americans surveyed fessed up to fudging their tax returns

Need For Tax Resolution Grows as IRS Gets 5,000 New Employees to Catch Tax Cheats in 2012

President Obama has decided to give the IRS an extra $1.1 billion in the 2012 budget to create an additional 5,000 jobs for the IRS to go after tax delinquents.
