Wealthy Americans Are the IRS's Largest Target
Tax Resolution Services, Co. advises the $1 million-plus IRS audit targets to have certified tax resolution representation on their side if audited or already under audit
Encino, CA - Recent reports show that Americans earning over 1 million dollars per year are a
greater IRS audit target than someone earning less than $200,000 a year. According to a
recent article in the LA Times, million-plus earners were audit targets at a rate of 12.5% in
fiscal 2011, this is up from an 8% increase in 2010 and a 6% increase in 2009. Said
another way, audits of consumers making a million dollars or more have
more than doubled (up 100%) since 2009. The audit rate under a million is 1%.
"It's understandable that the wealthy are of interest to the IRS because that's where
the money is", states Tax Resolution Services, Co. Founder and
CEO Michael Rozbruch. "Even though they may be fully compliant and not hiding
anything, I advise these taxpayers to consider expert tax resolution specialists
who are certified by the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers and know the
IRS rules and regulations inside out and use them to their clients advantage. It's like
you have this new expensive car that you just purchased and it was in an accident. It was
your fault and sustained major body damage. Do you take it to just any repair shop or do
you seek out the best shop in the business that specializes in your particular make
and model and also by the way enjoys the best reputation in town".
The statistics from the LA Times article also reveal that those making
over $200,000 per year should see future taxes rise due to the
Obama Administration's proposed tax increase known as the "Millionaire's Tax" as
an attempt to equal the tax rate to those who are earning less.
"The IRS selects targets that have the greatest potential for additional
tax to be collected," warns Rozbruch. "Americans under IRS audit often think they
have to deal with the IRS on their own, which is a grave misconception - many incriminate
themselves because the IRS asks very probing, invasive questions and require a thoughtful
polished response, not an off the cuff one. In 14 years of representing clients
before the IRS, for the very reason stated above, I have never taken a client
with me to an audit, even when the IRS demands it because, under law, they can't
demand it without a summons. Now, does the average CPA or attorney
know that? Probably not. You need someone on your side with day in day
out experience in negotiation and to make certain any additional taxes to
be assessed are the lowest amount permitted under law."
Rozbruch welcomes those under audit to contact Tax Resolution Services via
phone at 866-477-7762 or online at www.taxresolution.com for a free no obligation consultation.
